When is the deadline for personal tax return?

30 April for individuals
15 June for self-employers
But if you must pay income taxes, you must pay taxes on the 30th of April even if you are an individual or self-employed.

Why do we need to prepare our personal tax returns?

To receive the refund (In case you paid more during the year by your employer, or because your partner did not work)
To declare expenses that are deductible in the future (such as school fees, capital loss)
To receive refundable credits
To receive the Canada Child Tax benefit – Monthly by the Agency of Revenue Canada

Why personal tax should be prepared accurately?

There will be consequences if there is an error in the tax return or not sent:

You will not receive any refund.
You will pay the penalty (5% of the amount due) + the interest (1% month)
The benefits will be suspended.
